Everton 'join William Carvalho race'

A report claims that Everton want to sign Sporting Lisbon's £20m-rated midfielder William Carvalho in this summer's transfer window.

Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

The defensive midfielder, who has also been linked with Southampton and Leicester City, was a key part of the Portugal team that won Euro 2016 in France.

Previously linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, the 24-year-old came through the youth system at Sporting and has developed into a key player for the Portuguese outfit over the last three seasons.

According to The Sun, new Everton boss Ronald Koeman is an admirer of the Portuguese's talents and will battle rivals from the Premier League to sign the £20m-rated midfielder.

Carvalho scored three times in 35 appearances for Sporting during the 2015-16 campaign.
