Marco Silva insists that his Everton players must stop "hiding" following last weekend's 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United.

Marco Silva has spoken of how his Everton players must stop hiding following the club's 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United on Saturday.

An own goal from Yerry Mina and a late strike from Lys Mousset consigned the Toffees to their first home defeat of the season.

Following consecutive two-goal defeats - the first coming in the form of a 3-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth a week earlier - Goodison Park booed the team loudly for what was a shabby display.

Speaking to The Mirror following last weekend's defeat, Silva said: "It is not the moment for anyone to hide.

"The moment is like I am here with you, and I said it inside the dressing room too - there is nowhere we can hide, we have to show stronger character and personality."

Everton have enjoyed a busy summer transfer window, completing deals for Alex Iwobi, Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Moise Kean, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Jonas Lossl.

However, Silva's side sit 14th in the Premier League table, with their next game coming against champions Manchester City.
