Roberto Martinez still keen on Champions League

Roberto Martinez is optimistic that Everton can recover from the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and qualify for the Champions League this season.

Roberto Martinez has said that he is optimistic that his Everton team can recover from Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and qualify for the Champions League this season.

The Toffees went into the clash at White Hart Lane knowing that victory would see them move to within two points of fourth-placed Liverpool in the Premier League table, but Emmanuel Adebayor's 65th-minute saw Spurs win the encounter 1-0.

Martinez told reporters: "Looking at the performance it's disappointing because you don't get a positive result, but if we can take this type of performance into the next 13 games we are going to get a lot of points."

Everton host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
