Ronald Koeman pleased with Ross Barkley performance

Everton boss Ronald Koeman hails Ross Barkley after the 22-year-old netted in the Toffees' 2-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has paid tribute to Ross Barkley after the England midfielder netted in Sunday's 2-0 win over West Ham United at Goodison Park.

Barkley has been in and out of the Everton team in the early stages of the campaign, with Koeman challenging the 22-year-old to become a consistent performer in the Premier League.

After inspiring his team to a two-goal victory against the Hammers, Koeman, who also commented on the team's overall performance, reserved special praise for the Englishman.

"It was a total team performance today. Ross Barkley had more impact in the last part of our attacking, not only in scoring but he was dangerous throughout," Koeman told Sky Sports News.

"That's what the team needs. He can be very good, but it is all about knowing what you need to do. Sometimes I have to shout too much, he needs to run more."

Everton, who have now won five of their 10 league games this season, currently sit sixth in the Premier League table on 18 points - five points behind the leaders Manchester City.
