Gareth Southgate: 'England have plan for dealing with racism'

England manager Gareth Southgate says that he has put plans in place to deal with racism directed at members of his squad.

England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed that he has made plans regarding how to handle racist abuse directed at his players during the World Cup.

The Three Lions boss said that measures are in place for dealing with potential incidents in Russia and admitted that they are unlikely to include staging a walk-off.

"The players, like everyone else, don't really know what to expect," Eurosport quotes Southgate as saying. "We have had conversations explaining that. We are all hopeful that it will go well, but we are having conversations in case [racism] happens.

"We have a plan in place. We have personal support, team support and official protocol in place."

Southgate's comments follow confirmation that England defender Danny Rose has urged his family not to travel to the World Cup over concerns that they could be subjected to racial abuse.
