Danny Rose tells family to boycott World Cup over racism concerns

Danny Rose tells his family to stay away from the World Cup over concerns that they could be racially abused.

England defender Danny Rose has advised his family not to travel to the World Cup due to concerns that they may be racially abused.

The Tottenham Hotspur left-back said that he has "no faith" in the Russian authorities' ability to tackle such abuse during the tournament.

Rose, who was racially abused and pelted with stones during an England Under-21 game in Serbia, expressed fears that his family could receive similar treatment.

"If I'm racially abused out there, nothing is going to change – it shouldn't be like that but it is," he told the Evening Standard.

"I'm not worried for myself, but I've told my family I don't want them going out there because of racism and anything else that may happen. My dad's really upset. I could hear it in his voice. He said he may never get a chance again to come and watch me in a World Cup."

Rose went on to admit that he and his England teammates have discussed walking off the pitch if they hear racist chants or remarks coming from the stands at the World Cup.
