Danny Welbeck has been ruled out of England's friendly with Brazil tomorrow due to injury.
The Manchester United striker has been struggling with a knee injury that kept him out of Wednesday's match against the Republic of Ireland, and it was hoped that he would recover in time for tomorrow's match at the refurbished Maracana Stadium.
However, manager Roy Hodgson confirmed that Welbeck will play no part in the game which, after Daniel Sturridge's injury against Ireland, leaves him struggling for attacking options.
"It's unfortunate," said Hodgson. "We were rather hoping the injury that kept him out of the game against Ireland would heal itself or he would recover from it but unfortunately that's not the case and we just have the players who stepped off the plane. Fortunately they are all fit and ready to go."
Tomorrow's match had been under threat due to safety concerns over the stadium, but it has been confirmed that it will go ahead.
