Jackie McNamara: 'Victory over Motherwell fantastic for Dundee United'

Jackie McNamara says that Dundee United's 2-0 Scottish Premiership victory over Motherwell was "fantastic".

Jackie McNamara has described Dundee United's victory over Motherwell as "fantastic".

A Louis Laing own goal was followed by a debut strike from striker Simon Murray, which ensured the Arabs got their first win of the season.

"Motherwell are much improved and that's a fantastic three points for us," McNamara told reporters. "This will be a difficult place to come for most teams.

"First 20 minutes, they caused us a lot of problems. Both goalkeepers had some fantastic saves. Luis [Zwick] was outstanding for us.

"I was delighted that we had the energy to keep attacking them and finish the game off."

United will continue their Scottish Premiership campaign against rivals Dundee on Tuesday.
