Lampard: 'Derby improvements will take time'

Derby County manager Frank Lampard insists that he has seen plenty of signs of encouragement from his side, despite falling to back-to-back Championship defeats.

Derby County manager Frank Lampard has admitted that it will take time to implement his ideas at the club after suffering back-to-back Championship defeats.

Lampard began his Derby reign with victory over Reading on the opening day of the new season, but his side have since fallen to defeats at the hands of Leeds United and Millwall.

The Rams have dropped into the bottom half of the Championship table as a result, but Lampard insists that he has seen enough from his side to encourage him.

"I'm positive, we have nine new players, plus two players back from loan. We are changing the style and the way we do things behind the scenes - that's what the manager's job is," Lampard told reporters.

"I understand it'll take time but I'm seeing loads of good signs. We were disappointed with how we played and the result in the first home game (Leeds). We want to win in front of our home fans and have two opportunities to do that.

"With the competitive nature of the Championship, it's very hard to look through and call what the results will be. It'll come down to what we do. If we play how we can we will be very strong."
