DC United head coach Ben Olsen reveals that he is interested in signing Wayne Rooney from Everton.

DC United head coach Ben Olsen has confirmed that he is interested in signing Everton striker Wayne Rooney.

Reports suggest that the former England international has entered an agreement in principle to join the Major League Soccer outfit at the end of the season.

Olsen, however, has denied that a formal deal has been reached with Rooney but admitted that he is keen to bring him to the US.

"The deal is not done but there is some interest from our end," Olsen told TMZ.

Meanwhile, Everton manager Sam Allardyce has acknowledged that discussions between Rooney and DC United appear to have taken place, but has claimed that the player has not asked to leave Goodison Park.
