Steve Davis happy with Crewe Alexandra effort in Swindon Town draw

Steve Davis claims that Crewe Alexandra deserved their draw against high-flying Swindon Town in League One.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has admitted that he "can't ask for any more" from his players after they held promotion-chasing Swindon Town to a 0-0 draw.

Both side were reduced to 10 men after Swindon's Jack Stephens and Crewe's Alan Tate was dismissed for picking up second bookings, but Alex were able to hold on for what Davis insists is a valuable point.

He told the Crewe Chronicle: "I can't ask for any more from the players. We needed a bit more quality but there was some quality defending from both sides.

"It was a valuable point and we worked very hard to get it. The performance was back up there with when we were winning games, on another day we'd have won it but they could have won it too.

"It was that sort of game, open at times and I felt we had a goal in us. I thought about making substitutions but I felt the lads on there might just do it. We got in good positions but we didn't quite find the quality we needed. We fully deserved the point though."

Crewe are currently 18th in the League One table.
