Half-Time Report: Reda Johnson gives Coventry City lead

Reda Johnson ensures that Coventry City lead 1-0 at home to Yeovil Town.

Coventry City lead 1-0 at the break against Yeovil Town, thanks to Reda Johnson's early goal.

The Sky Blues started the game on the front foot, with Jordan Clarke and Andy Webster squandering chances to give them the lead.

By the seventh minute, the hosts were ahead when Johnson rose highest to meet an inch-perfect cross from Jim O'Brien, much to the delight of the majority inside the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry didn't rest on their early advantage and nearly doubled their lead when O'Brien smashed an effort against the crossbar, before forcing a save from Chris Weale soon after.

Yeovil tried to muster a response through winger Sam Foley, whose shot was kept out by Ryan Allsop.

However, Coventry continued to look for a second and Frank Nouble almost added to his debut goal last weekend against Gillingham, as his shot from a tight angle drifted narrowly wide.

Just after the half-hour mark the visitors almost stunned the home crowd with an equaliser, as AJ Leitch-Smith struck the woodwork with an overhead kick after meeting Kevin Dawson's cross.

Allsop was again called into action with half-time approaching when he kept out Dawson's threatening header.
