Tommy Lee agrees new Chesterfield deal

Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee agrees a contract extension with the League One club until 2018.

Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee has agreed a new two-year deal with the League One club.

The 29-year-old is close to penning the extension after entering the final 12 months of his current contract at the Proact Stadium.

Lee, who started his career with Manchester United, joined Chesterfield from Macclesfield Town in 2008.

"He has not actually put pen to paper yet, but Tommy has shook hands on a new contract with [chief executive Chris Turner] and I am really pleased about that because I think he is the best goalkeeper in our division," Spireites boss Dean Saunders is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"Any team I ever played in that was any good, or any good team that I have managed, always had a really good goalkeeper. I believe he is worth somewhere between 10-15 points a season for us so we should all be really pleased that he has agreed to stay here for another couple of years."

Lee made 55 appearances in all competitions for Chesterfield last season.
