Chesterfield hammer 10-man Bury

Chesterfield extend their undefeated run to six games by beating 10-man Bury 4-0 at the Proact Stadium.

Chesterfield have extended their unbeaten run to six games by thrashing 10-man Bury at the Proact Stadium.

Gary Roberts fired the hosts in front on 16 minutes, notching his sixth goal of the season.

Things got worse for Bury in first-half stoppage time when winger Danny Mayor was shown a straight red for a horrific challenge on Matty Brown near the halfway line.

Chesterfield made their numerical advantage count just after the hour, doubling their lead with a solo goal from Jay O'Shea.

Marc Richards made sure of the win 15 minutes later, slamming Ritchie Humphreys's cross into the top corner of Brian Jensen's net.

Substitute Dan Gardner then marked his Chesterfield debut by completing the scoring late on.

The result sees the Spireites stay third in the League Two table, while Bury remain 19th.
