Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted that he "completely lost it" and was entirely culpable for the incident which saw him banned for 10 matches.
Suarez infamously bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during a match at Anfield in April, picking up a lengthy ban for his actions in the process.
With speculation surrounding his future ongoing the Uruguayan forward has said that the red mist descended before the incident, because of his anger at conceding a penalty earlier in the game.
He told reporters in his homeland during preparations for the Confederations Cup: "I know I made a mistake in the incident with Ivanovic, it was me, my fault, and he didn't do anything to me.
"I was just angry as I had given away a penalty for handball a few minutes earlier. I saw red and completely lost it.
"I can't really explain it and I am so sorry, but the reaction was amazing."
The 26-year-old still has six games to serve on his suspension, but his future at Anfield remains in doubt as rumours persist over a move to La Liga.
