Liverpool have reportedly pleaded with Timo Werner's representatives to give them more time to submit an official offer for the RB Leipzig striker.
The Reds are rumoured to be leading the race for the Germany international, despite competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and domestic rivals Chelsea.
According to The Guardian, however, Liverpool have asked for more time to assess their options due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Werner would be Liverpool's primary acquisition of the summer should he arrive, but the report indicates that the Merseyside outfit may have to look elsewhere for a cheaper alternative.
Since joining Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016, Werner has scored 88 goals in 150 appearances.
