Mateo Kovacic 'nearing Chelsea loan move'

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic is nearing a loan move to Chelsea for the 2018-19 campaign, according to a report.

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic is reportedly nearing a loan move to Chelsea.

Kovacic joined Madrid from Inter Milan in 2015 and has made over 100 appearances for the Spanish giants over the last three seasons, yet he started just 10 La Liga matches last term.

The 24-year-old was a part of the Croatia team that reached the final of the 2018 World Cup, and he admitted during the tournament that he would be looking to leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for the midfielder this summer, but according to Marca, Kovacic is nearing a loan move to Chelsea for the 2018-19 campaign.

Kovacic has won one La Liga title and three Champions League crowns during his time at the Bernabeu.
