Guus Hiddink 'demands Jamie Vardy or Saido Berahino'

Guus Hiddink reportedly targets moves for strikers Jamie Vardy and Saido Berahino as he prepares to take over as interim manager at Chelsea.

Guus Hiddink has demanded a new striker in the January transfer window should he become Chelsea's interim manager, according to a report in The Sun.

The Dutchman arrived in London yesterday to begin talks with Blues owner Roman Abramovich about taking over at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, with a deal likely to be confirmed on Monday.

With the champions sitting perilously close to the Premier League relegation zone, Hiddink believes that more firepower is needed and has put league top-scorer Jamie Vardy and West Bromwich Albion frontman Saido Berahino at the top of his wishlist.

Reports yesterday suggested that in the wake of Jose Mourinho's departure, Chelsea are preparing a £30m bid for Leicester City hotshot Vardy, despite Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri ruling out a January sale of his prize asset.

Meanwhile, the capture of Berahino could be a more realistic target for Hiddink after the England Under-21 striker fell out with Baggies coach Tony Pulis over a failed switch to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Hiddink will watch from the stands today as Chelsea welcome struggling Sunderland to Stamford Bridge.
