Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov if they cannot strike a deal with Lyon for Moussa Dembele.
The former Celtic and Fulham forward has netted 10 times for the French side this season, and the Blues are believed to view him as a top target in this transfer window.
However, Lyon have issued a statement declaring that they have no real intention of selling Dembele after it emerged earlier in the week that the West London club had made an initial £34m offer.
With that in mind, the Evening Standard reports that Frank Lampard's side have been tracking Chalov and he could be a more cost-effective alternative.
The 21-year-old Russian international has scored five goals in 19 league games for the capital side this season after netting 15 times in the previous campaign.
Chalov was previously wanted by both Arsenal and Crystal Palace, with the Eagles having a £23m bid rejected by CSKA in the summer.
