Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly contemplating an approach for Everton defender Lucas Digne, whom they view as a cheaper alternative to Ben Chilwell.

Everton defender Lucas Digne has reportedly been identified as a potential transfer target by Chelsea and Manchester City.

In recent weeks, both clubs have been linked with an approach for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, who is said to be valued in excess of £70m.

However, given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, it appears that the Premier League giants are prepared to look for a cheaper alternative.

According to ESPN, France international Digne has been placed on their respective shortlists ahead of the next window.

Since moving to Goodison Park for £18m, the 26-year-old has contributed five goals and 12 assists from 70 appearances in all competitions.

With three years left on Digne's contract, Everton remain in a strong position regarding the former Barcelona man's future.
