Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Everton midfielder Ross Barkley in the summer as they try to find a replacement for outgoing Juan Mata.
Widespread reports have claimed that Mata is likely to complete a transfer to Manchester United today following claims that both clubs have agreed on a £37m fee.
While Chelsea will not act quick to replace the Spaniard in this window, it is understood that the Blues will table a big-money bid for Barkley at the end of the season, according to the Daily Star.
Manager Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on signing more English players given that his current stars Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole are in their 30s.
Despite Chelsea's reported interest, Everton are believed to be keen on extending Barkley's current contract.
