Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that the club were in discussions with Chelsea during the summer transfer window over Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The 19-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Allianz Arena ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, but he ultimately signed a new five-year contract with the Blues.
Hudson-Odoi's future was again called into question in the latter stages of the recent transfer window, with Bayern said to be attempting to bring him to Munich.
Salihamidzic has now confirmed that the two teams were in discussions over the England international, but a deal could not be agreed.
"There are transfers that come to the point where you have to say: 'We have to leave this immediately'," Salihamidzic told Bild.
"It is all the more important that one thinks about alternatives or alternative paths right from the start. We negotiated with Chelsea but there was no agreement. That happens."
Hudson-Odoi has scored once in five outings for the Blues this season.
