Midfielder Enzo Fernandez "has no intention of leaving" Chelsea at the end of the season, according to the player's agent.

Enzo Fernandez will not be leaving Chelsea during the summer transfer window, according to the midfielder's agent.

Just over 12 months ago, co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital opted to pay a British-record £106.8m to sign Fernandez from Benfica.

On the back of winning the World Cup with Argentina, Fernandez was expected to make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge and help transform the Blues into Premier League title challengers.

Instead, under compatriot Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are languishing in 11th position in the standings at a time when Fernandez is yet to justify his price-tag.

Only two goals - both scored in the same game against Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this season - and three assists have been contributed in 38 top-flight appearances.

With a contract until 2031, the 23-year-old is tied to the West Londoners in the long term, yet speculation emerged earlier this week that he may look for a transfer elsewhere.

In the unlikely event that Chelsea were able to attract a fee close to what they paid 13 months ago, it could be perceived that an exit may suit all parties.

However, speaking to AS, agent Uriel Perez has insisted that Fernandez is committed to the project at Chelsea and does not desire a transfer to a new club.

Perez said: "The player has no intention of leaving. The leaders were very clear with this project. It is a plan that was going to be difficult at the beginning because new and young players were going to arrive, but when the pieces of the team fit together well, Chelsea was going to move forward.

"Enzo Fernandez's desire is to be on the team and succeed . We don't meet with any clubs or try to talk to any clubs. We know what the player's desire is.

"Obviously he would like the club to be in another position, but that will be achieved with work."

Fernandez has already made a total of 50 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, which will become 51 when he features against Aston Villa in an FA Cup fourth round replay on Wednesday night.

He was able to get on the scoresheet in the previous round against Preston North End, while his other two strikes in a Chelsea shirt came in the EFL Cup.
