How Chelsea could line up against Crystal Palace

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for Tuesday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea know that there is little margin for error in the top-four race when they make the trip across London to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night.

Frank Lampard's side returned to winning ways at the first time of asking on Saturday, bouncing back from their 3-2 defeat at the hands of West Ham United with a 3-0 triumph against Watford.

The Blues now have a two-point lead over fifth-placed Manchester United ahead of their trip to Palace, who go into the game on the back of three successive defeats without scoring.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for the contest.

The one downside of Saturday's victory over Watford was an injury to N'Golo Kante which will almost certainly rule him out of this match, despite Lampard's optimism that it is nothing serious.

The Frenchman was withdrawn with 12 minutes remaining after picking up a hamstring injury, the nature of which does not usually allow a quick return with such a relentless turnaround in fixtures.

Jorginho or Billy Gilmour are likely to come in for Kante, but Ross Barkley will expect to keep his spot, having been directly involved in eight goals from his last 10 starts across all competitions.

Olivier Giroud was also on the scoresheet against Watford to make it four goals in his last seven Premier League games for Chelsea - more than he had scored in his previous 38 appearances - and he will therefore hope to lead the line once again.

The likes of Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso could return to the defence after sitting out at the weekend, and if Lampard opts for further rotation then Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pedro could all be in line for a spot too.

Mateo Kovacic and Fikayo Tomori will once again miss out, although they could be back in contention by the weekend.
