Mauricio Pochettino bemoans 'unfair scheduling'

Mauricio Pochettino says that it is "not fair" that Chelsea will have more time to prepare for their Premier League match on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that his side "need more help" from the Premier League in terms of scheduling their games.

Spurs host Chelsea on Sunday in a 12pm kickoff, less than 72 hours after they travel to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag in the Europa League.

Pochettino has said that it is "not fair" that Chelsea will have more time to prepare for the clash and has called upon the authorities to prevent similar discrepancies from happening in the future.

"We need more help from our country and the Premier League," he told the Daily Star. "It's not a complaint, but this is the reality when you play Thursday, you have a long trip home and then you play Sunday morning.

"We have a difficult opponent, in this case Chelsea, who will have three days more than us to prepare. We have only one day. It's a clear advantage for our opponent.

"It's a big challenge for us. It's tough to compete in every competition. Tottenham try to win every competition we play. You need some help to compete in the same condition than the opponent. It's not very difficult, I think it's not fair."

Pochettino has said that he is considering resting Harry Kane for the game in Azerbaijan.
