Manuel Pellegrini: 'Manchester City players would never surround the referee'

Manuel Pellegrini slams several Chelsea players' behaviour, insisting that Manchester City players would never surround the referee.

Manuel Pellegrini has condemned several of the Chelsea players' behaviour, claiming that his players would never surround the referee.

During their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek, 10 Chelsea players surrounded the referee after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was deemed to have hurt Oscar in a tackle, an act that Pellegrini insists would never be seen from his team.

"You will never see a City player surround the referee. Maybe you can discuss with the referee about a decision, but just one moment in the game. But I don't think that's the way this team is prepared to win. You must analyse which is the correct way and which is not the correct way," Pellegrini said, according to Goal.com.

"Every time the referee has a decision you have all the players on top of him and it's impossible for the referee to work.

"I'm talking about a lot of things that happen in different games, with different teams, but they always work in trying to pressure the referee in every decision, so the referee always has problems."

City trail the Blues by five points in the race for the Premier League title.
