Jose Mourinho hints at Didier Drogba coaching role

Jose Mourinho hints that Didier Drogba could continue on at Chelsea in a coaching capacity once his contract expires this summer.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that the door is open for Didier Drogba to embark on a coaching role with the club once he retires.

The "remarkable" 36-year-old scored and bagged an assist in Wednesday's 3-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur after deputising for the suspended Diego Costa.

Mourinho re-signed the legendary striker on an initial one-year deal in the summer, but the Portuguese is hopeful that he will stay beyond the expiration of his contract in some capacity.

"It must be Didier's decision. He came here to stay, I want him to stay, the club want him to stay. It will be his decision when he decides when he must stop as a player," he told The Mirror.

"The important thing is he will finish his career with Chelsea. It looks, for me, that he's going to stay doing other things when he finishes his career too.

"He's remarkable. First of all he's a team player. After that, he's one of these with an old-fashioned mentality: not selfish, not vain, a humble guy who plays and fights for the team."

The Blues sit top of the Premier League table, six points clear of defending champions Manchester City.
