Jose Mourinho excited about Kurt Zouma future

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says that youngster Kurt Zouma will be a "big player" for the club in the near future.

Jose Mourinho has claimed that defender Kurt Zouma has a fine Chelsea career ahead of him after impressing in tonight's 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old replaced Gary Cahill at half time after a clash of heads with Jan Vertonghen forced the Blues centre-back off the field.

It was only Zouma's sixth appearance of the season in all competitions, and Mourinho expects the youngster to emerge as a "big player" for him in the coming years.

When quizzed on the severity of Cahill's injury, the Portuguese told reporters: "He's okay. There is no concussion, no need of special care, he was just feeling afraid of heading the ball.

"When a player is a bit afraid, it's not good. It was a good opportunity for Zouma under pressure. [Zouma] is playing very well every time he plays, but today was a real test.

"I'm happy with his evolution since he arrived. He will be a big player for Chelsea for many years."

First-half goals from Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba helped the Premier League leaders into a commanding lead at Stamford Bridge, before Loic Remy completed the scoring 17 minutes from time.
