Chelsea ace Eden Hazard suggests that he will have to alter his selfless mindset if he is to ever be considered the world's best footballer.

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has acknowledged that he must become more selfish if he is to ever win the Ballon d'Or.

The Belgium international's biggest individual honour to date is the PFA Players' Player of the Year award, which he collected after helping the Blues to the Premier League title in 2014-15.

Hazard, who chipped in with 12 goals and four assists during the most recent top-flight campaign, believes that he will have to alter his mindset if he is to ever be crowned the world's best footballer.

"[My father] always told me that. Maybe it's true," he told BBC Sport when asked about his selfless nature. "I think, in football now, if you want to win something like the Ballon d'Or or [to be the] top scorer, you need to be selfish. But I'm not like this, not at all. I'm just who I am."

The last 10 Ballon d'Or awards have been shared by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who now have five apiece.
