Patrick Bamford hopes to become first-team star for Chelsea

Patrick Bamford insists that he sees his future at Chelsea following an impressive loan spell at Middlesbrough.

Patrick Bamford has insisted that he wants to eventually carve out a successful career at Chelsea following an impressive loan spell at Middlesbrough.

The 21-year-old, who has scored 19 goals so far this season, was named the Championship Player of the Year last night.

The striker has been a huge contributing factor in Boro's campaign for promotion to the Premier League, and Aitor Karanka's side currently reside third in the table, one point behind leaders Watford.

Despite his successful spell at the Riverside, Bamford is hopeful that he can extend his current Chelsea deal, which has two years remaining.

"I don't have any reason not be at Chelsea," Bamford told talkSPORT. "It is my dream to put on that blue shirt and play for them eventually.

"It will a tough task to break into the first team. Most strikers playing in the Premier League regularly are aged around 23 or 24."

Boro will play Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion in their final two games of the regular season.
