Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has admitted that he was unaware that his yellow card in the semi-final win over Barcelona would result in a suspension from the final.
The Serbian was issued the caution during the Blues' 2-2 draw with the Spanish giants at the Nou Camp on Tuesday, where the Premier League outfit went on to win 3-2 on aggregate.
"I didn't know that if I was booked I would miss the final," said Ivanovic. "But I think now it's too late. I was booked because I kicked the penalty spot when Barca got the penalty.
"They didn't score and the referee booked me for that. I didn't expect him to book me for that and I didn't know I was in the danger zone. But football is like life, you cannot watch behind you, you have to look forward."
Ivanovic is one of four Chelsea players due to miss the final against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on May 19, with Raul Meireles, Ramires and John Terry all forced to sit out of the highly-anticipated clash.
