Preview: Watford vs. Charlton Athletic

Sports Mole looks ahead to the Championship match between Watford and Charlton Athletic.

A new era begins on Saturday for Charlton Athletic as Guy Luzon takes charge of his first game against Watford at Vicarage Road.

It came as a surprise to some when Bob Peeters was dismissed from his post following the 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, but the Charlton hierarchy moved quickly to bring in Luzon, and all eyes will be on the Israeli as he attempts to start his reign successfully.

Luzon arrives at a time when morale is low in the Charlton squad following a run of eight Championship games without a victory.

Despite the recent run of poor form, Charlton are just 14th in the table, and they could return to the top half with a win over Watford.

Slavisa Jokanovic's side missed the chance to earn some breathing space in the playoff spaces last weekend as they slipped to a 3-1 loss to Huddersfield Town, but results elsewhere mean they remain in sixth spot.

That loss and an early FA Cup exit has seen Watford start 2015 disappointingly, and the hosts will be desperate to return to top form as they look to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.

However, Watford are expected to be without injured goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, and Jonathan Bond is set to replace the Brazilian.

Watford:

Possible starting lineup: Bond; Hoban, Cathcart, Angella; Layun, Abdi, Tozser, Munari, Pudil; Vydra, Deeney

Charlton:

Form in all competitions: DLDLLL

Possible starting lineup: Etheridge; Solly, Wiggins, Ben Haim, Bikey-Amougou; Wilson, Cousins, Gomez, Gudmundsson; Vetokele, Watt

Sports Mole says: 3-1
