Seydou Doumbia scored twice as CSKA Moscow claimed a routine victory over Trabzonspor in the Luzhniki Stadium this evening.
Doumbia's striker partner, Vagner Love, also caused problems for the visitors' defence as he laid on two goals for his teammates.
The away side actually created the first chance of the game, but both Alanzinho and Halil Altıntop were denied by Vladimir Gabulov in the CSKA goal after 19 minutes.
It took the hosts 28 minutes to break the deadlock. Love and Doumbia combined for the latter to move into the penalty area unchallenged before shooting low past Tolga Zengin.
CSKA winger Zoran Tosic shot over from close range shortly after the break as the hosts looked to claim that all-important second goal.
It eventually came 15 minutes from time when Love crossed for Aleksandrs Cauna and the Latvian struck an instant volley into the bottom corner of the net.
Victory was assured in the 86th minute when Doumbia grabbed his second of the evening, using the outside of his right foot to beat Zengin from eight yards.
CSKA are now level at the top of Group B with Trabzonspor on four points.
