Neil Lennon insists that Celtic would be competitive if they made a switch to the English Premier League.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has insisted that his side would hold their own in the English Premier League.

Fresh speculation surfaced last week that the Bhoys were keen on a move south of the border, with reports suggesting that a switch to League One could be in the offing.

However, boss Lennon is adamant that his playing squad would be more than capable of surviving in the top flight.

"People keep saying the EPL is so far ahead - and in some respects it is," Lennon told the Sunday Mail. "But Celtic could play there and do all right.

"I don't know where we would finish but I don't think we would get relegated.

"But it is not just about quality - with our prestige, support, tradition and history, I think Celtic would add something extra to England's top flight."

Celtic currently lead the Scottish Premier League by 21 points.
