Plymouth manager: 'Not fair for Carlisle United fans to endure midweek trek'

Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams claims that Carlisle United's 779-mile midweek round trip to Home Park and back is "not fair on the supporters".

Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams has dismissed Carlisle United's 779-mile midweek round trip to Home Park and back as "not fair on the supporters".

The Cumbrians travelled to the South West on Tuesday evening for their League Two fixture against the Pilgrims, one of the longest away trips in the Football League.

Adams told BBC Sport: "It's not fair on the supporters, having to travel long distances on a Tuesday night. You can tell the computer system that and the computer system won't listen.

"It's a computer that obviously gives out the fixtures and it's disappointing because Carlisle will not want to travel on a Tuesday night.

"The supporters will find it very difficult to get here, and likewise when we go away from home on a Tuesday evening to some places, our fans have found it very difficult."

Plymouth's return trip to Brunton Park is on January 2.
