Cardiff City sign midfielder Simon Lappin from Norwich City on an emergency loan deal until January 1.

Cardiff City have signed midfielder Simon Lappin on an emergency loan deal from Norwich City.

The 29-year-old will remain with the Welsh club until January 1 and is available for their Championship clash against Barnsley away from home on Saturday.

However, under the terms of the loan deal Norwich can recall Lappin after 28 days.

"An adaptable player, Simon can play as a left-back or in midfield," said Cardiff in a statement on their official website.

"With defensive injury concerns this week, he is a welcome addition to the squad, while we would also like to thank Chris Hughton and Norwich City for allowing Simon to join us for this period."

Lappin has been with Norwich since 2007.
