Neil Warnock appointed Cardiff City boss

Cardiff appoint Neil Warnock as their new manager following the sacking of Paul Trollope.

Cardiff City have appointed Neil Warnock as their new manager following the sacking of Paul Trollope.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Trollope had been relieved of his duties after only picking up two victories from 11 Championship matches this season.

Speculation linking Warnock with the vacant position gathered pace on Tuesday night and a statement on Cardiff's official website has confirmed that the well-travelled boss has now officially taken control.

"Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Neil Warnock as first-team manager," read the statement.

"Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson will join Neil as assistant manager and first-team coach respectively, while existing staff members James Rowberry, Martyn Margetson and Lee Southernwood will continue as part of Neil's immediate backroom team."

Warnock, 67, who will take over a club second from bottom in the Championship table, left his last role with Rotherham United earlier this year.
