Cardiff's Don Cowie wants his side to beat Blackburn tomorrow night in honour of Wales and their former manager Gary Speed.

Cardiff's Don Cowie has targeted a win in tomorrow's Carling Cup quarter-final with Blackburn to give Wales a much needed lift.

The nation is currently in mourning after the sudden death of former manager Gary Speed, who was found dead in his home yesterday morning.

The midfielder also joined a long list of people associated with Welsh football to pay tribute to Speed.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Gary Speed," said Cowie.

"Gary is someone I have never come across in my career, but when I heard the news I was shocked and I'm sure everyone who has worked with him would have been devastated.

"Hopefully we can go out on Tuesday night and reach the Carling Cup semi-finals and give everyone's spirits a lift."

The Bluebirds host Blackburn at the Cardiff City Stadium tomorrow night.
