Cambridge United put five past Oxford United

Cambridge United win their second successive match in League Two by coming from behind to beat Oxford United 5-1 at Abbey Stadium.

Cambridge United have moved up to seventh place in the League Two table by claiming a 5-1 win over Oxford United this afternoon.

Danny Hylton gave the visitors the lead in the ninth minute when he headed in from Tom Newey's cross.

Kwesi Appiah almost levelled the scores just moments later, but his long-range effort came crashing off the bar.

On the half-hour mark Cambridge came close again as Robbie Simpson saw his header pushed away by Ryan Clarke.

With four minutes of the first half remaining the hosts drew level as Appiah fired a strike into the top corner past Clarke.

Appiah scored his second of the match on the stroke of half time when he saw his initial shot saved by the keeper, before chipping the rebound into the net.

Oxford almost drew level in first-half stoppage time, but Michael Raynes smashed his effort against the post.

Nine minutes after the break Cambridge scored their third of the afternoon, as Ryan Donaldson slotted in from Appiah's low cross.

The hosts further extended their lead minutes later as Tom Elliott headed home Greg Taylor's cross.

With a minute left to play Simpson made it five for Cambridge as he headed in following a corner to complete the rout.
