Scott Arfield "proud" to reach Burnley landmark

Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield admits that he has endured "many ups and downs" during his time at Turf Moor, having reached 100 appearances for the Lancashire outfit.

Scott Arfield has admitted that racking up a century of appearances for Burnley is an achievement he is extremely proud of.

The 26-year-old reached the landmark figure in the Clarets' 2-1 win away at Rotherham United on Friday night.

Having featured in the Premier League last term for the club that he joined on a free transfer in 2013, Arfield has now targeted more happy memories during his years ahead at Turf Moor.

"It's a terrific stat to be fair as I've done it in under three seasons and it's a great landmark," he told Burnley's official website. "I'm proud of that and I just want to keep going now.

"I tried to get a goal to mark it but it wasn't to be and the most important thing is to get the three points. I was saying afterwards how it seems a long time since that trip to Cork before I joined and I got on with the boys really well and scored over there.

"There have been so many ups and downs but mostly it's been highs and once you get a taste of that top level you want to be back up there."

Arfield has previously enjoyed spells at Huddersfield Town and Falkirk during his eight-year senior career.
