Paul Put warns Burkina Faso over profligacy

Burkina Faso boss Paul Put warns his troops that they must be more clinical in front of goal if they want to progress in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Paul Put has warned his Burkina Faso side that they can ill afford any more slip-ups if they are to progress in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 2013 runners-up slumped to a 2-0 defeat in their Group A curtain-raiser to Gabon in Bata last night.

Put's side dominated large spells of the contest and forced opposition goalkeeper Didier Ovono into a string of impressive saves, and the Belgian warns that they must get over their profligacy.

"We dominated the first half and created clear chances, but unfortunately Ovono was very strong today and he won the points for Gabon," he told FIFA.com.

"I hope we will do better in front of goal in the next match, which will be vital. It is up to us to prove that we want to qualify for the next round."

The Burkinabe face host nation Equatorial Guinea in their next game on Wednesday.
