Steve Cotterill has demanded improvement from his Bristol City side after they needed a late equaliser to earn an FA Cup replay against fellow League One side Doncaster Rovers.
The Robins looked to be heading out of the third round until Fulham loanee Matt Smith scored to give City a second chance in the competition.
However, Cotterill has suggested that his team could have performed better.
He told reporters: "If we'd have played in the first half like we did in the second half, we would probably have won.
"We've got a long journey to Gillingham now. We're committed for these games. We've got to be better than we were today.
"Hopefully us or Doncaster will get a good draw and have an incentive for the replay. We're still in the FA Cup; that's a positive."
City also lost top spot in League One after Swindon Town fought back from two goals down to earn a point at Fleetwood Town.
