Brisbane Roar beat Adelaide United despite goal-line controversy

Thomas Broich is denied a goal by the officials, but A-League leaders Brisbane Roar still manage to see off Adelaide United to move 10 points clear.

Brisbane Roar have strengthened their lead at the top of the A-League table with a comfortable home win over Adelaide United.

Besart Berisha netted twice for Brisbane, either side of a Thomas Broich goal, which the officials failed to award.

Berisha broke the deadlock on 22 minutes when he fired a crisp low shot beyond goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic from close range following Matt McKay's one-touch assist.

Galekovic was beaten again just before half time when Broich's 25-yard effort smashed off the underside of the crossbar, before bouncing just inside the goal.

Replays later confirmed that the ball had crossed the line, but the score remained 1-0. It was 2-0 just six minutes after half time, though, as Berisha notched a spectacular second.

The Albanian forward had the chance to complete his hat-trick in stoppage time, but he was denied by a good stop from Galekovic.

Adelaide then raced up the other end and got on the scoreboard thanks to a powerful Jeronimo Neumann strike, but there was no time for them to threaten an equaliser.
