Preview: Brisbane Roar vs. Western Sydney Wanderers - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Australian A-League clash between Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Searching for their first win in eight games, Brisbane Roar welcome Western Sydney Wanderers to the Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors saw their three-game winning run come to an end against Melbourne City last time out and they will aim to quickly return to winning ways.

At the start of the year, a rejuvenated Brisbane Roar side surged into the top four with a run of four consecutive league victories.

However, they suffered a disappointing dip in form and are winless in seven games following a 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix last time out.

Warren Moon's men have now dropped into the bottom half of the A-League table, three points adrift of the playoff places.

This poor run of results has been largely down to their misfiring frontmen, who have scored just three goals in their last seven outings.

However, they boast the second-best defensive record in the division with 14 goals conceded, and will rely on this defensive solidity as they look to find their feet.

On the other hand, Western Sydney Wanderers were unsuccessful in their hunt for a fourth win in a row as they suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Melbourne City.

Carl Robinson's men had the opportunity to move into second place in the log, but goals from Andrew Nabbout, Jamie Maclaren and a brace from Craig Noone gave City a deserved win.

This was the Wanderers' first defeat on the road, where they had amassed 12 points from a possible 21 prior to that.

While the visitors will look to quickly return to winning ways, they take on Brisbane Roar who are unbeaten in five of the last six meetings.

Team News

Brisbane Roar will be without the services of veteran forward Scott McDonald, who picked up a hamstring injury in February's goalless draw with Sydney FC.

Macaulay Gillesphey will also sit out this one as he serves his suspension for picking up a red card in the game with Wellington Phoenix last time out.

With six goals and two assists to his name, Dylan Wenzel-Halls has been a standout performer for the hosts, and we expect the 23-year-old to play a key role in this encounter.

Like the hosts, Western Sydney Wanderers have only one injury concern heading into this tie with goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic out with a shoulder injury.

Robinson could make a few tweaks to his side as he will aim quickly to bounce back from last week's defeat.

German forward Nicolai Muller could be handed his first start since the 3-2 loss versus Adelaide United back in February.

Brisbane Roar possible starting lineup:
Young; Trewin, Aldred, Dehmie; Hingert, Akbari, Daley, O'Shea, Brown; Wenzel-Halls, Kudo

Western Sydney Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Margush; Natta, Gordon, McGowan; Russell, Baccus, Dorrans, Muller; Troisi; Ibini-Isei, Duke

We say: Brisbane Roar 0-1 Western Sydney Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers have been solid away from home, picking up three wins and three draws. The visitors lock horns with an out-of-sorts Brisbane side, and considering they come into this one in good form, we fancy them to narrowly grab all three points.
