Smith: 'Ryan Woods still available'

Brentford boss Dean Smith says that midfielder Ryan Woods is still available for selection, despite reports linking the player with a move to Stoke City.

Brentford boss Dean Smith has dismissed Stoke City's reported interest in Ryan Woods as "speculation".

Woods has established himself as one of Brentford's key men over the past three seasons, and it has resulted in interest from a number of Premier League and Championship clubs.

Stoke are allegedly prepared to pay over £6m for the 24-year-old, but Smith has said that he is yet to discuss any interest from the Potters with the club's hierarchy.

At a press conference, Smith told reporters: "As far as I'm concerned it's speculation at the moment.

"I've not sat down with my directors of football because we played Sunday and now we're concentrating on Aston Villa on Wednesday. Ryan's part of our squad for that game."

Woods is yet to make a league appearance for Brentford this season.
