Luiz Felipe Scolari pleased with Brazil display

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari claims that his team played well during their 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in the World Cup third-placed playoff.

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has praised the performance of his players despite their 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in the World Cup third-place playoff.

The hosts followed up their semi-final humiliation by Germany with a resounding loss against the Dutch on Saturday night.

While there has been widespread criticism of Brazil during their last two matches, Scolari believes that they have left the tournament with a positive display.

"We had the impression that it was going to be a very even game, but we conceded an early goal and that tipped the balance in their favour," he told FIFA.com.

"I don't think that we played badly though, and I think the players deserve credit for what they achieved out on the pitch. The team battled and created chances."

Following speculation that Scolari will leave his role with Brazil, the veteran coach has refused to confirm whether he will be staying or going.
