Bournemouth recall Lewis Grabban

Bournemouth cut short Lewis Grabban's loan spell with Sunderland as they gear up for a potential January sale.

Bournemouth have recalled striker Lewis Grabban from his season-long loan at Sunderland as they gear up for a potential January sale.

The 29-year-old has been top scorer for the Black Cats this season, scoring 12 goals in 20 games for the Championship's basement side.

Amid reported interest in his signature from the likes of promotion-chasing Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County, however, the Cherries have opted to activate the recall clause in his deal.

Sunderland manager Chris Coleman said of the decision: "Throughout my time at the football club I have continually reiterated that I only wish to work with players who want to be here and work hard for Sunderland.

"Lewis informed us of his desire to leave and we wish him well."

Should a sale not go through, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is thought to be considering Grabban for his first-team plans in the second half of this season as they look to avoid their own relegation battle.
