Bournemouth 'accept £3m bid from Aston Villa for captain Tommy Elphick'

Bournemouth reportedly accept a £3m bid from Aston Villa for captain Tommy Elphick.

Bournemouth have reportedly accepted a £3m bid from Aston Villa for captain Tommy Elphick.

The 29-year-old defender, who joined the Cherries from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2012, could become Roberto Di Matteo's first signing since becoming Villa manager earlier this month.

Elphick captained Bournemouth in their first ever Premier League season in the 2015-16 campaign, but due to an ankle injury, he made just 14 appearances.

According to Sky Sports News, the transfer could be edging closer to completion as the two clubs have agreed on a £3m fee.

As well as guiding Bournemouth to the top flight, Elphick led the team into the Championship from League One in the 2012-13 season.
