Davies got his first after just three minutes with an acrobatic volley which sailed past Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.
Things went from bad to worse for Bolton after 20 minutes when Tim Ream committed a foul to concede a penalty.
In-form Davies stepped up and smashed his penalty into the bottom corner of the net to make it 2-0.
Bolton responded well and reduced the deficit quickly through Chris Eagles, who unleashed an unstoppable free kick from distance after being fouled by Louis Carey.
