Former Blackburn striker Alan Shearer admits that he would be interested in talking to the club's owners over the vacant managerial post.

Alan Shearer has revealed that he would speak to Blackburn Rovers' owners over the vacant manager's post.

The post at Ewood Park has been open since last Friday when Steve Kean was "forced to resign" as manager and a host of former players have been linked with the job.

Shearer is one such former player, and he admitted that he could be interested in taking over but warned that things would have to change before he would consider it.

"It's a strange one at Blackburn, I'm sure they had a plan with Steve Kean but it's now a tough situation," Shearer told BBC Sport.

"Whoever takes over, they have to make sure it is the right choice. With my history at Blackburn, I would speak to them if they called me but I think things would have to change."

Shearer scored 130 goals in 171 appearances for Blackburn between 1992 and 1996.
